Each class elects two representatives through a democratic vote, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be heard.

Our councillors meet regularly to discuss ideas, share feedback from their classmates, and make decisions that benefit the whole school. Their work includes choosing which charities we support, helping to create fair play rules for sporting events, and contributing to wider community initiatives such as the Crewkerne and Ilminster Schools Partnership values document.

The School Council also works closely with external organisations. For example, they partnered with the Rotary Club and Rotakids to organise a successful cake sale, raising funds for water purification projects in Libya and Morocco.

Beyond these projects, our councillors have taken part in a birdwatch survey, welcomed new EYFS children and their families with guided tours, and contributed to our E-Safety Super Heroes Committee, which meets termly to promote safe and responsible online behaviour.

They also play an important role in staff recruitment. School councillors are invited to take part in interview panels, offering a pupil perspective on candidates. They help ensure that new staff understand and embrace our Christian ethos and commitment to being a school of character—where virtues such as respect, compassion, perseverance, and love and kindness are lived out daily in both learning and relationships.

Through their dedication and teamwork, our School Council helps to live out our Christian virtues in meaningful and practical ways, making St. Bartholomew’s a place where every voice matters.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”8266″ img_size=”2000X600″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] School Council [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1756023017163{padding-right: 20px !important;}”]At St. Bartholomew’s, our School Council plays a vital role in giving pupils a voice and helping shape our school community.
