Matthew 13:31-31<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>[vc_single_image image=&#8221;8384&#8243; img_size=&#8221;2000X600&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Nurture<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Nurture is designed to be a warm and welcoming experience, that provides a consistent, predictable and safe place for children. It offers a variety of equational and domestic experiences aimed at supporting the development of a child\u2019s relationship with their peers and with staff.<\/p>\n<p>Nurture takes place in our Forest School on the field.\u00a0 It is delivered by a Forest School teacher supported by the School ELSA and 1:1 Teaching Assistants.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]The group follows key principles of\u00a0<strong>PACE<\/strong>\u00a0by Dan Hughes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>P<\/strong>LAYFULNESS: light, hopeful, open and spontaneous; provide opportunities for enjoyment<\/p>\n<p><strong>A<\/strong>CCEPTANCE: unconditionally directed at all of the experiences of the other; accept the young person, not necessarily their behaviour<\/p>\n<p><strong>C<\/strong>URIOSITY: non-judgemental, not knowing, active interest in other\u2019s experiences; offer ways to help young people to reflect on their experiences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E<\/strong>MPATHY: felt sense of other and communicated. Activily communicate that you want to experience what the young person is feeling.<\/p>\n<p>These principles underpin everything we do in Nurture.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;4455&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Reasons Children might attend a Nurture Group?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h6|text_align:left&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Low self esteem<\/li>\n<li>Find it hard to listen to others or join in<\/li>\n<li>Family illness or break up<\/li>\n<li>Bereavement<\/li>\n<li>Find it hard to share and take turns<\/li>\n<li>Find it hard to settle into class<\/li>\n<li>Friendship difficulties \u2013 keeping\/making friends<\/li>\n<li>Find it hard to accept losing a game<\/li>\n<li>Quiet, shy, withdrawn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A teacher might identify a child with any of the above needs. A discussion would then take place with the Nurture Lead. If it is felt the child would benefit from a Nurture Group environment the class teacher will speak to the parent\/carer.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;How will the Nurture group help your child?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h6|text_align:left&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]The nurture group will help to boost confidence and self-esteem and provide children with extra skills to improve social skills and independence for example:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>To engage<\/li>\n<li>To settle<\/li>\n<li>To listen<\/li>\n<li>To concentrate<\/li>\n<li>To share and take turns<\/li>\n<li>To accept losing a game<\/li>\n<li>To build friendship with their classmates<\/li>\n<li>Gives opportunities to talk about and understand their feelings<\/li>\n<li>To work on curriculum based activities from their classrooms.<\/li>\n<li>To experience and practice the development of positive relationship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;What does an afternoon in Nurture look like?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h6|text_align:left&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children follow a structure and routine that is clear to both staff and children which includes group listening and speaking, work tasks usually from their teacher, individual and shared playing and social skills.
