Learning in Action (2023 – 2024)

NOVEMBER 2023 – Bronze Award from Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme

We are proud to be presented with a Bronze Award from Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme for their global citizenship work, in recognition of our initiatives to encourage children to think of others throughout the world.

Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme celebrates schools which are helping pupils learn about global poverty and the Christian responsibility to tackle it, as well as giving them the tools to play a confident part in creating a fairer world.

NOVEMBER 2023 – COMPASSION

Year 6s have done such an amazing job of No Bullying posters for Odd Socks day to raise awareness of Bullying.

NOVEMBER 2023 – RESPECT
During Crewkerne’s Remembrance Sunday service our school choir performed. They were wonderful, not just their singing, but their behaviour and joining in with prayer was brilliant! After the singing, there was a huge applause and  many lovely comments were made to members of staff after the service.  Also, other members of school read a prayer during the service and were present at the wreath laying.

NOVEMBER 2023 – RESPECT
Mrs Samuel and Mrs Coram took the Poppy Mascots and the Little Troopers to the Memorial at lunchtime today to lay the school Wreath. The children were so appreciative of the extra efforts that the RBL had gone to to set the scene for our Worship worship today. The little crochet poppies that had been planted looked beautiful in the autumn sunshine and the cascade of poppies on the memorial itself were met with sparkling eyes and lots of “WOW’s”. We are so lucky to be affiliated with the RBL and so proud of our children and the way they paid their respects.

NOVEMBER 2023 – ASPIRATION

This afternoon, St Barts’ Year 5/6 boys football team competed in the South Somerset Small Schools football finals at Bucklers Mead Secondary School. After a tough group stage and an end-to-end knockout round match, St Barts qualified for the final. With incredible goals, saves and tackles, the team successfully won the final and were crowned South Somerset Small Schools champions!!

Despite winning the tournament, the highlight of the afternoon was the respect and sporting values that the children demonstrated throughout the competition. The school are very proud of the boys on and off the pitch!
Being crowned South Somerset Small School champions means that we have qualified for the county finals held at Strode College – details will be shared soon. A photo of your champions will be coming next week.
Well done St Barts!
