MARCH 2024- ASPIRATION

A huge well done to Mathilde and Ernie for representing our school so brilliantly at the Young Voices competition final at Herne View school in Ilminster on Tuesday evening. It took huge courage to speak so confidently and clearly in front of the audience and we were very proud of them both. They both received a finalist’s certificate and Mathilde won runner up in her category. Well done both!

Chaffinch had another fantastic afternoon at Forest School. We challenged ourselves on the adventure course, built dens and ate some hot dogs. It has been great learning outdoors!

Wagtail thoroughly enjoying their visit to the Crewkerne Museum. The children have enjoyed seeing how Crewkerne used to look like and how different transportation was.

Today, some of our Year 5 and 6 children competed in a netball tournament at Herne View Primary School. They participated fantastically well, showing great resilience and respect. After winning the first game 8-0, we drew the second 0-0 and won the last game 4-2 and ended up finishing second on goal difference. The team showed some brilliant netball skills and were unlucky not to win it. Well done St Barts!

FEBRUARY 2024- TRUST

Chaffinch class welcomed the High Sherriff of Somerset this afternoon. He explained his uniform was styled from the 17th century and his sword was from the same century and is handed down from sherriff to sherriff. The class asked two questions that will posted out at a later date along with the other classes. It was a special visit as the sherriff is a very busy man.

FEBRUARY 2024- TRUST

Mini Police was fantastic today! We were taught by the local Police Officers some basic first aid. We really enjoyed this experience and managed to learn some valuable information.

Despite it being a cold morning yesterday, Chaffinch class really enjoyed the cricket session and learning different catching techniques. We cannot wait for batting next week!

FEBRUARY 2024- TRUST & RESPECT

I am so proud of these School Council representatives who joined 4 children from each of the other CISP schools to work on our behaviour charter. They demonstrated courage and trust as they were put into groups mixed with children from the other schools. They overcame their nerves quickly and gave excellent ideas, spoke passionately about what they think is right and were fantastic representatives of our school. (Mrs Coward – Headteacher)

FEBRUARY 2024- RESPECT

Yesterday some of our year 5 and 6 children participated in the rearranged football tournament at Wadham Secondary School. The two teams that entered played some fantastic football; being unbeaten throughout all of the group games. Both teams played incredibly well, finishing 4th and 5th overall. Throughout the tournament, the children showed great sporting values: shaking hands, respecting their opponents and supporting each other. We are very proud of how the children represented our school, they were absolutely brilliant – well done!

On Safer Internet Day, the children in Robin Class explored some scenarios from Smartie The Penguin. The children all explored following themes:
Pop ups and in app purchasing
Inappropriate websites for children
CyberbullyingThe children were able to discuss what they thought Smartie should do and why. The children were also able to link the knowledge of their computing lessons. Well done Robins!

Woodpecker Class – What a fabulous end to the week watching the police dogs. Don’t worry. They didn’t eat any children.

Fabulous start to the week with a poetry workshop with the ‘NSI’ charity. The children produced some fantastic poems.

Wagtail class enjoying the nature and fresh air at forest school yesterday. They even tried making some fresh lemonade.

The year 4s and 5s have blown the adults away with their incredible poetry following the incredible, thought provoking workshop Clive ran this morning for us. Every child will have the opportunity to enter their poems into the ‘Never Such Innocence’ Charity competition.

JANUARY 2024- ASPIRATION

Today our Mini Police have been tidying our local area by picking up litter in and around the school. We have also started to create posters to prevent people from littering and some of these will be chosen to be put up around Crewkerne once they are completed.

JANUARY 2024- LOVE

Starling class have had a wonderful afternoon exploring the Forest school provision. We have made nature looms, decorated wooden birds using the paint pens and enjoyed a warming hot chocolate.

JANUARY 2024- ASPIRATION

Wagtail really enjoyed their recent Art lesson. Emersing themselves into prehistoric art and making their own “natural paints” mixing up some powdered spices. The classroom smelt like a concoction of aromas by the end of the day.

JANUARY 2024- ASPIRATION

Yesterday, some of our students went to Yeovil College to participate in the Motiv8 Programme. This event used online games (space invaders, floor is lava, angry birds and many more) and turned them into a real-life version. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our favourite game was Pac Man or Crash bandicoot.

JANUARY 2024- RESPECT

A huge well done to our St Bart’s girls’ football team for their fantastic effort in today’s county finals. After an unbeaten start to the tournament, showing great respect and determination, the girls went on to lose two very close games and finish 5th in our group. They showed great team spirit and resilience throughout the tournament and were a credit to our school. You have done us proud, girls!
It was a great day which also featured our new football kit. A huge thank you to Jason, Mark and WestCountry Profiles for organising and sponsoring our lovely new kit.

JANUARY 2024- RESPECT

The St Bart’s Boys’ football team competed in the county finals at Strode college today. The team showed great teamwork and passion as they won 2 and lost 2 during the group stages and ended 3rd in the league: a fantastic achievement. Finishing third unfortunately knocked us out; but the boys were absolutely fantastic and did our school proud! You have performed brilliantly boys, a huge well done!

Year 5 from Chaffinch and Wagtail had another great session of Mini Police. This week we learnt all about finger prints and even got to test our own!

Amazing team work and focus in Woodpecker PE today. The children had to create their own sports games to teach to other schools.

Reverend CJ always shows such warmth and love when he comes to our school! Today he lead our worship and taught us all about Epiphany.

Year 5 members of Chaffinch and Wagtail class had an amazing time with the local PCSO in their Mini Police workshop. The next few weeks sound incredibly interesting and we cannot wait to get started to support our community.

Although the weather was extremely cold, fun was had by all children. A massive thank you for sending ALL the children in with a hat, scarf and gloves!

NOVEMBER 2023 -British value: TOLERANCE

Year 3/4 completely immersing themselves in their learning about the Hinduism religion. They were so excited about dressing in sarees, prayer shawls and turbans to become Hindu princes and princesses. Thank you to all your contributions as parents to make this possible for the children.
Thank you to Krishna for her engaging workshop, the children have been so enriched by your visit.

NOVEMBER 2023 – Bronze Award from Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme

We are proud to be presented with a Bronze Award from Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme for their global citizenship work, in recognition of our initiatives to encourage children to think of others throughout the world.

Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme celebrates schools which are helping pupils learn about global poverty and the Christian responsibility to tackle it, as well as giving them the tools to play a confident part in creating a fairer world.

NOVEMBER 2023 – COMPASSION

Year 6s have done such an amazing job of No Bullying posters for Odd Socks day to raise awareness of Bullying.

NOVEMBER 2023 – RESPECT
During Crewkerne’s Remembrance Sunday service our school choir performed. They were wonderful, not just their singing, but their behaviour and joining in with prayer was brilliant! After the singing, there was a huge applause and  many lovely comments were made to members of staff after the service.  Also, other members of school read a prayer during the service and were present at the wreath laying.

NOVEMBER 2023 – RESPECT
Mrs Samuel and Mrs Coram took the Poppy Mascots and the Little Troopers to the Memorial at lunchtime today to lay the school Wreath. The children were so appreciative of the extra efforts that the RBL had gone to to set the scene for our Worship worship today. The little crochet poppies that had been planted looked beautiful in the autumn sunshine and the cascade of poppies on the memorial itself were met with sparkling eyes and lots of “WOW’s”. We are so lucky to be affiliated with the RBL and so proud of our children and the way they paid their respects.

NOVEMBER 2023 – ASPIRATION

This afternoon, St Barts’ Year 5/6 boys football team competed in the South Somerset Small Schools football finals at Bucklers Mead Secondary School. After a tough group stage and an end-to-end knockout round match, St Barts qualified for the final. With incredible goals, saves and tackles, the team successfully won the final and were crowned South Somerset Small Schools champions!!

Despite winning the tournament, the highlight of the afternoon was the respect and sporting values that the children demonstrated throughout the competition. The school are very proud of the boys on and off the pitch!
Being crowned South Somerset Small School champions means that we have qualified for the county finals held at Strode College – details will be shared soon. A photo of your champions will be coming next week.

NOVEMBER 2023 – ASPIRATION

This afternoon St Barts competed in the local CISP tag-rugby tournament. The children were an absolute delight and represented the school beautifully in their behaviour – this was also commented on by other schools. Overall we finished 3rd in the league and 4th in the knockouts.

We were delighted to present Crewkerne Wellbeing with a cheque of over £200 to support the amazing work they do for our community. Thank you for your generosity in donations. This money will help so many. ??❤️

We are super proud of Owl Class for their attitude and effort in our Yoga sessions. We had another successful session today and it has quickly become a highlight of our week!

Owl Class are loving their Forest School session! We have dyed bunting using beetroot, made dens, searched for birds, made clay models and lots of other activities. They will have lots of stories to tell their families this evening!

A huge well done to the 7 pupils representing St Barts at the cross country event yesterday at Yeovil Rugby Club. Despite the poor weather conditions all of us managed to run our respective races and perform really well. A great start to the cross country season! Well done guys we are very proud of your efforts! SEPTEMBER 2023 – COURAGE

St Barts’ tag rugby club have been working hard since the start of term, improving on our skills and confidence in tag-rugby! We’re getting ourselves ready for a potential tag-rugby event next half term. More details about the event will be shared in the coming weeks.

Starling class had great fun at forest school yesterday. We made clay animals, tie dyed fabric using blackberries, built a den, made a trap and created super squelchy mud pies in the mud kitchen!
